.TH UCB 5Q "20 July 1993" .SH NAME UCB, ucb - description of UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory data at the NCEDC .SH DESCRIPTION .LP The Data Center stores the following types of data which were recorded by the UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory: .IP 1. catalog listings from 1910 to the present. .IP 2. phase listings from 1984 to the present. .IP 3. 3-component digital broadband seismograms, consisting of continuously recorded channels and event channels for local, regional and teleseismic events. Data from September 1991 to the present are currently available. .sp .LP .B Catalog and Phase Data .LP The catalog data consists of event summary information from 1910 to the present, and phase, amplitude, and scalar moment data from 1984 to the present. .LP The format for the catalog data is described in manual pages, \fIucb.catalog\fR and \fIucb.phase\fR. The location of the catalog and phase data is described in manual page \fIinfo\fR. .LP Program \fIeqselect\fR allows the user to select a subset of the catalog satisfying user defined criteria. Program \fIextract\fR extracts the event summary, comment, phase, and amplitude information for selected events from the online UCB phase files. .sp .LP .B Digital Seismograms .LP The broadband digital seismograms were recorded with either a Quanterra 24-bit digitizer and data logger or with a 16-bit BDSN digitizing system. .LP Retrieval of the digital seismograms is performed using programs \fIsdata\fR, which creates full SEED volumes, or \fIqdata\fR, which retrieves just the native SEED data records. Most external users should create full SEED volumes which will allow data convertion to other useful formats with the use of the .B rdseed program from IRIS. .LP NOTE: When using ftp to transfer the data files to your local computer, use the binary option. .LP For more information, contact: .IP Douglas Neuhauser, doug@seismo.berkeley.edu, 510-642-0931 .SH AUTHOR Douglas Neuhauser, UC Berkeley Seismological Laboratory, California
